Big Gills on Cricket Flies...
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:39:47 PM »
These were used for testing in a pond by one of our members property in Mississippi.

He said that these weren't even the big ones.  The big ones were in another pond.

Fish been on a swallow the fly tear up here as well. I upsized but they still swallow it.
Debarbing the hooks really helps if they are in that mood.

Ya'll do realize why those cricket flies worked so well in that pond? They look like the steroid enhanced brown dog food the guy feeds the fish. ;D

It is still a great looking fly. Can you make some white ones for City Park to match the bread balls the kids feed the gills?

Kirk you hit right on the head.  They are pond feed dog food style ones.

I most certianly can do them in white if you want.

Kirk I threw this one together really fast. It was the wrong hackle.  I just didn't feel like searching for the right one.  It was just to give a visual.  If there was ever an albino cricket then here is its twin.
