OT Guide 119 Round 2
« on: June 19, 2012, 05:50:17 PM »
I didn't want to take over the other post, so started a new one.

So far I have installed a thru hull anchor line. Attached are a few pictures. After boyscout posted the hardware link and I looked at it, decided to go with a brass pipe fitting and nut. 3/8" inside diameter. My anchor line is 1/4". After drilling a 9/16" hole in my new boat, pretty hard to do,installed the fitting and nut ant tightened down. mixed up some locktite putty ( sort of like JB Weld ) and packed it inside and out to cover all the edges. Once cured, hit the outside with a little flat black krylon.

Next up is moving the seat forward. If I read it correctly over in the other topic. Boat should ride level when loaded, and the front of the seat should be about in the center for that to happen. After doing some measuring, it looks like all I need to do is remove the seat. Slide the back hole of the seat forward to the front hole, and drill a new front hole. That puts the front edge of the seat about 3/4" behind the center.

Boyscout, thanks for all the help and advice. If you don't mind I will probably pick your brain alot more as I do more and more to my new little boat.

Glad to help. Hey, I did have to chamfer the edge of the brass fitting (outside hull hole, inside isn't a problem) some with a cone shaped stone grinding drill bit. The corner was too sharp and cause needless friction.

Good luck!

I'll look at that. Thats to easy. I worked the rope threw it several times, but not with any weight on it. Start working nights tomorrow, so I'll do that and move the seat forward tonight after the wife and kids go to sleep.
