L'Ancestral French Restaurant in Dallas
« on: September 06, 2011, 12:24:15 PM »
My wife and I spent the weekend in Dallas watching LSU whip the Oregon Ducks.  On thursday evening we went to L'Ancestral, a country french restaurant, which serves authentic country french cuisine.  If you are looking for fast food, fast service, and loud music, do not go here.  The pace is slow, the service great, but unhurried, and you can spend 2 hours enjoying a very fine meal.  Their wine list is primarily french, and the food is delicious.  We enjoyed Thursday so much, that we went back on Friday for round 2, and had an even better experience than the first night.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Nice.  But was it like the reputation of the modern French Restaurant such that you had to go to
McDonald's or Burger King afterwards to no longer be hungry after dining there?  ;D

sounds good.  I would give the opposite of a recommendation to local French restaurants.

I can throw up a wine recommendation, though.  Viognier is the heaviest-bodied white, flavorful enough to dine with smoked meats.
While I've had some good French Viogniers, the best I've had is from Texas, Becker Vineyards, and a very good buy at $15.

NO, the servings were very large, and in fact, had we not been staying in a hotel, we would have taken enough home to have another meal.  Just could not eat all of it.  One of the best restaurant's I have been in in a while.

In that case if I am ever in Dallas, I'll have to look into it.
