Here's the boat I'm trying to build...

QT Skiff. I'm stretching it to 14 ft long and 48 inch wide to take up the whole piece of plywood stern.

Uh well there is some sound reasoning for the wide part to be toward bow the 4 foot width as opposed to the stern as in transom. I be thinking the draftsman got it correct.

Yeah, you're mostly likely right, but the wood is cut now,  :-\ :o I hope I don't die or anything. Yet, when you look at modern jon boats they have a continuous width throughout the entire bottom. I'm looking to build the power QT skiff version. I just bought a small 3.6 hp Scott Atwater outboard motor. It get a spark and has good compression. TI should be a good little motor.

;D Maybe that's why he sold it. I wanted to by a new 2.5 hp  or 3.5 hp Tohatsu or something, but I figure a $100 with $75 worth of work might be worth taking a chance.

I'd imagine the spark plug will get fouled with these old two strokes with that thick oil/gas ratio. So maybe just go up stream only?

I'd run a modern synthetic in it. Heck you aren't going to have lead additives in the gas .

If you can find it, opt for the non-ethanol gas. It attrcts water and has fouled many carbs down here in the south, just from the humidity. The non-ethanol costs a bit more, but well worth the price if you don't have to continually get the carb cleaned or rebuilt. I also use it in all of my other gas powered tools, (lawnmower, weedeater, chain saw, etc) Hope your boat build goes well, and you have years of enjoyment out of it.
